Professionalism in the Workplace Professionalism in the workplace is a crucial component for running a successful business. When you enter an establishment and the employees are well-dressed, informative, and provide excellent customer service, people leave satisfied and likely to return again in the future. Many factors contribute to professionalism such as following a dress code, being respectful, setting boundaries, and establishing trust. The first topic I would like to discuss is complying with the dress code your institution has requested. If you are unsure of what your institutionââ¬â¢s dress code policy is, ask your supervisor to make sure that you are in compliance. It is very important in any line of work to make a good first impression and your appearance plays a vital role. ââ¬Å"Conservative clothing, proper personal hygiene, and physical well-being, contributes to personal appearance (McCall, Tankersley, 2012)â⬠.When employees follow a dress code it provid es a sense of organization as well as helping customers differentiate employees from customers. Another item to consider is cleanliness which ties into the dress code policy. When employees perform self-care, such as showering regularly, wearing clean clothes, tidying their hair, and shaving when needed it gives consumers a good impression.
